Be Active and Get Involved
Help make a difference in the lives of people living with disabilities

Without volunteers we would be unable to offer our unique service to people in our community. Our Centre heavily relies on our volunteers help. Some of the areas you can help with are:

  • Welfare & Training of our horses
  • Leading Horses during sessions
  • Side walking with riders during sessions
  • Administration
  • Fundraising & Events
  • Setting up the arena and activities for use during sessions
  • Maintenance of our facilities
  • The day to day management & running of our centre

General Volunteer

This description applies to all general voluntary positions withing the centre that are not otherwise specified.

Arena Volunteer

Assist with the set up of arena prior to and during sessions
Clubhouse Coordinator

This position assists the centre secretary with the collection of paperwork from riders and volunteers during sessions. They also help keep everyone informed about new things happening with RDA Brigadoon.
Horse Volunteer

This position involves assisting the coaches in catching and getting horses ready for sessions. If you are interested in this position then we ask that you arrive at the centre one (1) hour prior to the sessions commencing so horses will be ready for riders arriving.

Horse Leader

You will be involved in sessions leading the horses and assisting more able bodied riders with their activities.

Side Walker

This position involves assisting our riders to prepare for sessions and works with them to complete activities during sessions under the direction of the coach.
Fundraising Volunteer

This position assists the centres Fundraising Officer with promotional and fundraising activities & events. You do not need to attend regular sessions however it would be helpful if you observed a few to gain a better understanding of what we are about. This position requires people who are available to help out mainly at weekends for special activities and can sometimes be called upon with short notice. Types of events you could be asked to help with are Movies By Burswood, Sausage Sizzles, Open Days, Centre Social events such as Christmas Party.
Maintenance Volunteer

This position assists the centre facilities manager in the general maintenance and development of the centre i.e. fixing fences, painting & grading the arena.
